Conference Guide · Chapter 02

Conference cadence around a 12-week PI

The cadence is designed backwards from ART PI Planning. Higher-level conferences happen early enough to create decision-ready inputs, while final syncs in the IP iteration harden the frame before ARTs commit.

Cadence pattern

Large conferences in the first half, condensed final syncs in IP.

The deck shows a 12-week PI with six two-week sprints. Portfolio, Value Stream and Solution Train conferences are placed early; regular syncs keep roadmaps alive; final syncs create the last clarification chain before PI Planning.

W1–2

Portfolio frame

Strategic priorities, trade-offs and investment guardrails become visible.

W3–4

Value Stream alignment

Portfolio intent is translated into value-stream contributions and roadmap logic.

W5–6

Solution Train alignment

Multiple ARTs receive cross-ART direction, dependency context and roadmap inputs.

IP

Final syncs + PI Planning

Final clarifications become plan-ready inputs for ART commitments.

Core idea

The cadence exists so ARTs can make better commitments.

Higher-level conferences should not pretend to create ART commitments. They create the strategic, value-stream and cross-ART clarity that makes PI Planning more realistic.
